Sirubari is a Gurung village in Syangja district southwest of Pokhara, which is a short drive from Pokhara, followed by a comfortable walk. This Village is a totally unspoiled Gurung settlement set in the hills at 1,700m above sea level. The climate is ideal at all times of the years with warm days and cool nights. The houses are mostly built by the villagers themselves using local materials found in the settlement. The overwhelming impression of the village is one of the old and classic atmosphere but with a warm and welcoming feel to it. Foot trails through the village are all stone paved. Being on the southern slopes of the ridge the village enjoys long sunny days and is the ideal environment for agriculture.

It is not only popular for its scenic beauty, but also for art, culture and tradition. There are even several places which hold historical and religious importance. The village is well maintained by the villagers. The settlement consists of mostly Gurungs who are well known for their friendly and warm reception. The village has made significant progress in the field of education and health sector. Sirubari is a compact farming community village. The community is very strong and work together to make their life better.
Sirubari has a hike trail to the viewpoint in Thumro (popular for Sunrise view), which lies at 2300m above the sea level and said to be a highest point in the south or Pokhara. The Thumro view point offer panoramic views of Mt. Annapurna massif including Macchapuchare, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Lamjung and Hiunchuli. Mother Nature seems to have really bestowed heavenly glory upon this exotic village, where every creation of nature is simply awe-inspiring.
Majority of the residence are retired army families who have tried to create Sirubari Village a piece of heaven on earth, so it is hoped that their effort for years to develop this place as a tourist destination will pay them off in future. In May 2001, Sirubari in conjunction with the Nepal tourism board was awarded the PATA Gold award in recognitions to their constant efforts and contribution in preserving the culture and heritage of Nepali total life at its purest form. Despite being a small village, the populations of this rural community are very enthusiastic about tourism and attract regular tourists from all around the world.
